RON PERLMAN

Professional Career
in Theatre




From 1974 to 1976 Ron Perlman worked with the Classic Stage Company performing works by Ibsen, Chekhov, Pinter, O’Neill, and Shakespeare.

He made his professional debut in THE ARCHITECT AND THE EMPEROR OF ASSYRIA at La Mama, directed by Tom O’Horgon. Ron played the role of The Emperor. January 15, 1977.

He also appeared in the following productions directed by Tom O’Horgon.

• AMERICAN HEROES: A musical set in Hell: In the role of Satan. Performed in Washington, DC, and then New York and Broadway.

THE RESISTABLE RISE OF ARTURO UI: In the role of Arturo Ui.

• PAL JOEY: In the role of Ludlow Lowell. A musical comedy set in Chicago in the late 1930's.

LA TRAGEDIE DE CARMEN: In the role of Pastia. Directed by Peter Brook; ran for six months at the Lincoln Center, Vivian Beaumont Theatre, New York. 17.11.83 - 28.4.84

HEDDA GABLER: In the role of Eilbert Lovborg.

WOYZECK: In the role of Woyzeck. Directed by Chris Martin.

TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA: In the role of Valentine. A musical comedy directed by David Feldshuh. Set in Verona, Milan and the forest.

MEASURE FOR MEASURE: In the role of Lucio. Directed by Stuart Vaughn.

SUNSET: (Later PLATINUM) Musical starring Alexis Smith. Directed by Tommy Tune. Ron played the role of D.J.Rollins. Sept 30 - Oct 29, 1977.

MY LIFE IN ART: In the role of a crazy Romanian director. A satirical comedy with Jonathan Frackes; Tiffany Theatres, Los Angeles, CA. 1987.
